Jealousy. An evil emotion. Can turn friends, lovers, even family to become bitter monsters. It can drive people to do crazy things…lie, cheat, plot, dishonour, slay. If we remove jealousy from the equation then i think raw happiness is inevitable and could be stronger than ever. In this day and age, there is a continuous desire to get the next best thing and a lesser sense of being happy with what you’ve got. I constantly feel that we, by today’s human nature, want what other people have which as a result, has a domino effect on our personalities, our interests and our desire creating other soul destroying emotions: emptiness, unfulfillment, sadness, disappointment, greed…and more jealousy! It’s sad to think that society now thrives off the need to be better which, on the one hand this can be seen as ambition, whilst on the other hand it can be regarded as mere dissatisfaction. Whilst nothing and no one is perfect, if we eradicate jealousy from our emotional agendas, we could come near as dam to it. Realistically, this won’t ever happen in our materialistic world, BUT, on a personal level, if we were to try and be more happy with what we’ve got, be thankful as opposed to bitter, then the world could be a better, more enriched place.
